Dr. Mark Lumpkin - Director of Fitness & Wellness

About Me:

  • I’m a native Texan from San Antonio.
  • I have a love of all martial arts, and I’ve also enjoyed Taekwondo, and Judo.
  • I also enjoy music, film, reading and exercise.


Here at The Rec, I provide a holistic approach to training. Working hands-on while educating my clients on how and why each lift and movement 

is important.

My Background, Experience, and Education:

Dr. Mark Lumpkin has trained and taught Martial Arts for 30 years and holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do / Hapkido. Dr. Lumpkin trained with members of the USA Olympic Tae Kwon Do Team for 8 years while pursuing other martial training in Kendo and Iado. Dr. Lumpkin incorporated his lifelong martial studies into his Doctoral Dissertation which also incorporated psychology, philosophy, esoteric anatomy, and quantum physics.

  • LMTI (Licensed Massage Instructor) 20 years

  • Yoga & Pilates Certified

Troy Kauffman - Performance & Fitness Specialist

About Me:

  • I grew up in northern Indiana.
  • I enjoy spending time with my canine friends as well as volunteering at the local animal shelter.
  • Exercising went from a hobby, to a passion and then a career.


Here at The Rec, I teach proper form and instruct my clients in how they can not only increase their numbers on the fitness floor, but reach the “Next Level.”

  • Functional Movement Screen Level 1 (FMS)

  • Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University
  • Master’s of Science degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Strength, Conditioning, and Fitness from The University of Georgia.

Dr. Geff Purdy - Executive Director

About Me:

 

  • I’m a native Texan from Littlefield.
  • I love spending time with my wife Katie and our three kids: Lilani, Kelsea, and Zander.
  • I enjoy working out, listening to music, reading/writing, hunting/fishing, riding horses and motorcycles, etc.


Here at The Rec, I am the Executive Director, I oversee every department. And I offer specialty training.

My Background, Experience, and Education:

Dr. Geff Purdy has trained and taught for 30+ years in Mixed Martial Arts and holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Black Belt in Krav Maga, and a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Judo. Dr. Purdy has also worked closely with Special Forces, Navy Seals, Delta Force, and Devgru personnel in performance, nutrition, rehabilitation, and close-combat training. Dr. Purdy incorporates the principals of Warriorship, duty, and honor within all his training activities and classes.
